“After completing a certificate of Fashion Design in Sydney and continuing her studies at world-renowned fashion school, Central St. Martins, Jessica Faddoul debut her eponymous womens wear label FADDOUL in 2010. Since then, her designs have been praised for their modern aesthetic, quality craftsmanship, feminine silhouettes and overall accessibility.”
“The fall 2013 collection entitled ‘chica’ (launched on February 18) is inspired by artist Picasso’s tempestuous painting ‘the bullfight’, the colour and digital prints seem to be lifted straight from the artists paint palette – the mix of mustard, petrol, and raspberry are highlights against the neutral tones of alabaster, grey and black used throughout the collection.
Featuring a vivacious selection of dresses, relaxed fitting tops, slouchy pants and oversized outerwear in a mix of textiles including leather, silk and textured sheen raffia ‘chica’ represents urban style at its best.”
I first discovered Faddoul while doing research for my recent Byron Bay posts and I could not believe this exciting and unique Australian label had not been bought to my attention earlier…
With the perfect mix of understated glamour, luxe fabrics, carefree styling and wearability, there isn’t a single piece from the ‘chica’ collection I am not coveting for my own wardrobe.
The shapes are on trend, yet offer a unique perspective. And while the colour’s are muted the collection (in particular the prints) seems to “pop.” I am thrilled to finally have this über cool Aussie label now on my radar as it’s clear from every piece, that designer Jessica really knows what we all want!
